At REACT Humanitarian Network, we believe that true impact begins with seeing people not just as members of a community, but as human beings with dreams, challenges, and limitless potential. This belief guided us in our gift for the Volta School for the Deaf and Blind; an extraordinary place where resilience lives in every classroom, and hope speaks louder than words. The gift included Geometry Shapes, Template Stencil, World Globes, handheld Tambourine Drum, Braille Writing Slates and Styluses, Portable Plastic braille writing styluses, magnifying glasses, Folding walking sticks, Braille Writing Slate with Styluses, maracas, cymbals, braille rulers, Braille writing sheets, Tambourine, Castanets, virtually impaired footballs, Braille pens, Braille Typewriter For The Blind and many more.

R-elief & Responsibility

Our team has always embraced relief and responsibility beyond aid and delivering care is our purpose therefore when we learned about the unique needs of the students at the Volta School for The Deaf and Blind, we knew we had a role to play. Not because it was expected, but because it was right.

E-ducate in the process

Going through some of the videos from the children during our needs assessment, we were reminded that communication is far more than sound or sight—it is connection and education and therefore every support we could offer would be welcomed with warm smiles, gentle gestures, and an energy that radiated strength as these children seek knowledge through formal education. Their determination to learn, grow, and express themselves moved every member of our team to the do the best we can. Empathy became not just a feeling, but a call to action.

A-dvance wellbeing

Our donation was carefully chosen to support both learning and daily wellbeing. From essential supplies to supportive materials, each item represented our commitment to helping the students thrive. We didn’t just want to give; we wanted to empower. And through this act, we strengthened our bond with a school that inspires everyone who walks through its doors.

C-ater for specific needs

Catering for specific needs is the heart of REACT’s objectives. It is the reason we show up for our communities, and the reason we believe in lifting others whenever we can. Seeing the joy on the faces of the students and staff reminded us that kindness is a universal language, one that requires no translation.

T-urn disability into ability through education

The CEO of REACT Prince Osei Akowuah in a remote message said;

This donation was not just from REACT; it was from every driver, every team member at P.O.A-PLUS Courier and Logistics Company limited; a company he runs and every supporter who believes in what REACT stands for. Prince concluded that together, we made a difference, helped amplify voices that deserve to be heard and proved that when a community unites, barriers become bridges.

A Message of Gratitude

Prince also thanked students at Volta School for the Deaf and Blind for inspiring us with some of their performances, and for reminding us that ability is not defined by limitation. Prince emphasized that every student has the ability to be future leaders of courage, creativity, and perseverance and REACT is honored to support such mission.

Receiving the donation the unit Head Priscilla Evelyn Obekusu on behalf of the school expressed delight and gratitude for the gift and promised to look after them for the long-term benefit of the children. Priscilla also requested REACT and their partners to support the Unit with laptops and assistive devices like screen readers to help with their digital literacy and upscaling.

The donation was spearheaded by Ms. Debbie Awuku one of REACT’s longstanding country Coordinators who discovered the school’s desperate needs and facilitated the whole support.
