SHAMA METHODIST CHURCH SCHOOL RECEIVES REACT DONATIONS

Usborne Books UK continues to sustain REACT’s Schools Book Support  project with their invaluable donations as Shama Methodist Basic school in the Western region of Ghana  gets onto the project’s beneficiary list. The school was nominated by a proud supporter in the UK who hails from the community and identifies with the difficulty in sourcing reading books for children in the area.

Receiving the gift the Headteacher of the school, Mr. Enoch Kofi Bonsu said the books are a valuable gesture which will compliment the schools’ mantra of “Read The Page Again” which is a scheme initiated to instill reading culture into children. Mr. Bonsu said the Shama community is mostly a  deprived fishing community and parents find it difficult to afford reading books for their children and therefore thanked REACT for their support which he acknowledged will help the school achieve its reading objectives.

REACT CEO, Prince Osei Akowuah in  a remote message emphasized the importance of reading at an early age in a child’s life and commended the school for their reading initiative but thanked Usborne Books UK for making this donation possible. Prince said REACT will continue to liaise with Usborne Books UK for a sustain support for more under-resourced  schools in Ghana.
